I had a great time at The Old Mill Campground in Spray, OR. Aaleron and Yella did a great job making an awesome car camping experience for all their guests during a busy eclipse weekend. I highly recommend it for private beach access to the John Day river from a beautiful high desert location. The showers were refreshing, and I love that it is dog-friendly.
Spend 4 nights camped at the Old Mill Campground in August. The campground was great, Aaeleron and Yella are wonderful hosts. The stretch of river, and low water level this time of year creates a natural waterpark. There are little rapids to float in tubes and a large rock bar that makes a wonderful beach and creates a huge pond perfect for swimming and floating. The rock bar itself is made of smooth river rock, best beach in eastern Oregon that I have found for sure. It's perfect kids and adults alike! Hours of water play fun to be had!
Very nice campground run by friendly and helpful people. The eclipse campout was really wonderful!
